The Genesis

Beth-El Churches of Christ, Inc.

"Through God we shall do valiantly; for He it is that shall tread down our enemies.” -Psalms 60: 12

As with any other modern day foundation of a new work for God, there is a necessity for scriptural origin and authority. The time being at hand that he should answer God's call and follow His command, Apostle Robert Evans, Jr., resigned from his posts in the Highway Churches of Christ, Inc. After 25 years of faithful and proven service to the Highway Churches of Christ, under the apt leadership of Bishop Raymond F. Davis, the Lord found it necessary to implant a burden, such as that known to Habakkuk, the prophet, in the spirit of Bishop Robert Evans, Jr. This burden being one fueled by a vision to lead God's people to the enlightenment of righteousness, for the Lord spoke unto Bishop Evans just as he did Habakkuk, and said, “... Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry." Habakkuk 2:2-3.

In October, 1989, the fruition of the vision that God had given Bishop Evans for ministry was realized. At the Omni Richmond Hotel, Bishop's vision was birthed in the midst of the saints gathered in their 151 Holy Convocation. This vibrant, healthy, holy deliverance by God's miraculous power was given the name of its mother church... "BETH-El”........ Genesis 28:16-19.

With God's great mercy and abundant grace to see him through, Bishop Evans began, as the Lord directed him, organizing the Beth-El Churches, throughout the continental United States, with hopes of expanding internationally. Apostle Evans is presently Presiding Prelate. This anointed vessel is one whom God is using during this End-Time season to both repair and prepare the Body of Christ. He is a man that loves God and everything that pertains to God. Having himself been freed from the bondage of traditionalism and non-biblical dogma, Apostle Evans is ministering the message of unity to the entire Body of Christ. When Jesus was in the Garden of Gethsemane praying for all believers, He said, " ... Neither pray I for these atone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: ... " Apostle Evans, an anointed messenger of God, is ministering the Holy Oracles and Statues of God to destroy the yokes of "spiritual bigotry" which for so long has been a device used by the enemy to keep the Body of Christ from blending together and recognizing the basic truth that " ... the body is not one member, but many ... " Because of this vision to lead God's people to the enlightenment of righteousness, The Beth-El Churches of Christ, Inc., embraces ecumenical ministry and strongly admonishes those entering into fellowship to conform their lives and faith to that which promotes oneness and dismantles all ideologies on pseudo-religious dogma, making plain all spiritual truth that makes us one, and is based upon the doctrine of Jesus Christ and the apostles in accordance with the Scriptures.

This movement recognizes Who it's Source is as well as Whose it is, and how this relationship affects our earthly mission. Without the direction of God; without His awesome presence and guidance, this movement would certainly cease to exist. We are totally dependent upon the promises of God. We fully know and appreciate that He is the Keeper of promises made; and, if He said it, it must come to pass. God cannot lie. God said that this movement would be a "quick work". At this time, the number of ministries which comprise the Beth-El Churches of Christ, Inc. has more than tripled since its inception. From southern Florida to Massachusetts and points west, we have grown substantially and are still being called upon to serve in various capacities. This is the Lord's doing and it is marvelous in our eyes!

The Beth-El Churches convene in a National capacity twice annually- Youth Convention (usually the 4th week of June); and, Holy Convocation (the 4th week of October). Additionally, there is an annual session which is designed to enhance the leadership capabilities of each supporting ministry (usually the 3rd week in January). The emphasis of each event is always to promote this august body of believers to want "the more of God". The success of this movement is founded upon a hunger and thirst for righteousness. For the Word declares unto us “... they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness ... shall be filled." This fellowship and association will bless your life and your local church.

Consequently, the potential of credibility you and your local ministry would bring to this movement would also be a blessing to each of us given the gifts and wealth of talent that is an integral part of you.

As a supporting ministry, you can expect visitation by our Presiding Prelate, Apostle Evans as well as by members of our Executive Board, Board of Bishops, and our National Officials, upon your request. Criterion such as loyalty to the Beth-El organization and attendance of all National meetings enhances our good standing as supporting ministries of this God-ordained movement.

As we approach this new millennium, we are aligning and restructuring the Beth-El Churches in a manner that will enable us to be foundationally fortified so that we will successfully under-gird the End-Time ministry which includes the last outpouring of the Holy Ghost. There is an influx of souls coming to the church daily such as should be saved; and, we must be equipped and prepared to minister to their needs. As we go forth to organize churches, conferences, religious societies, educational institutions, hospitals, homes for the aged, and community outreach centers, that are according to and consistent with the doctrine of oneness; and, as we spread the doctrine of Jesus Christ throughout the world to foster and encourage domestic and foreign missions, we are aware of our potential to be effective as an ecclesiastical body whose mission is to perfect holiness and motivate Christianity to higher progressions.

God has given us the necessary tools to accomplish this task for the kingdom, by developing leaders throughout every arm of ministry currently serving in this movement.

God has been faithful in the consistent growth of the Beth-El Churches, with their currently being upwards of forty (40) churches that are part of the nucleus of this organization. The national headquarters is Beth-El Temple Church of Christ, Inc., located at 3910 W. Rogers Avenue, Baltimore, MD.

As we prepare ourselves to journey yet again to the place where we meet God in all His Glory, we declare from the bowels of our souls, as the scripture so profoundly declares in Psalms 60, "Through God we shall do valiantly; for he it is that shall tread down our enemies."
