Personal
Born and raised in Akron, Ohio July 18, 1951 to the late Rev. L. Butts Jr. and Mrs. Betty Butts. Pastor Butts accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at the age of eight years old. He grew up in the church where his father was founder and pastor of Holy Trinity Church of God in Christ. From a small child to adulthood, Pastor Butts was actively involved in the C.O.G.I.C. on the local, district and state levels.
Pastor Butts has been married to his childhood sweetheart, Jewrusha for 34 years. He likes to tell the story that the first time he told Sis. Jewrusha that he liked her was in kindergarten. Sis. Jewrusha presently works right along with her husband in ministry and is intricately involved in Women's Ministry (WWTIC) at The House of The Lord. They have two adult married sons, Paul Butts (Kena), who lives and works in the Philadelphia, PA area as a chemical engineer and Dennis Kelsey Jr. (Millicent), who works a health care strategy consultant. Pastor and Sister Butts are very proud grandparents of Makaya Elise and Dennis III.

Pastor Butts enjoys gospel music, singing, traveling, racquetball, and conducting seminars in the area of marriage and family, men's retreats, personal leadership development, and team building. But most of all he loves the Lord, his family, the people of God, preaching and teaching the Word of God, experiencing genuine worship and ministering to hurting people at their level of need. Ministry
Pastor Butts acknowledged his call to the ministry in August of 1974. In August of 1975 he and his wife sensed the Holy Spirit leading them to join The House of the Lord, which at that time had a total membership of 8 people. Pastor Butts was ordained as a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ in April of 1978. In January of 1980, he left his job in the secular world to work full-time in the ministry as a Staff Pastor at the House of the Lord.
Presently, Pastor Butts is the Pastor of Visitation and Special Ministries at The House of the Lord®. His responsibilities include preaching, counseling, funerals, hospital and home visitations, baptism, baby dedications, community relations and outreach, and head teacher for the Married Couples Class. Pastor Butts also serves as the Executive Director of Beth-el Fellowship of Visionary Churches under Bishop F. Josephus Johnson, II, and is sought after as a dynamic evangelist and conference speaker.

Pastor Butts is also involved in Greater Akron Regional Pastors Prayer Gathering called “Love Akron” and Imagine Unity, another city wide ministry which consists of pastors from different denominations, ethnicities and cultures, uniting together.
